Dear Representative,

I would like to respectfully urge you to consider the proposal put forth by 8664.org. In my opinion, it appears to be a better, faster and cheaper solution than the current $4.1 billion Ohio River Bridges Project.

The current plan for expanding Spaghetti Junction to 23 lanes is simply ludicrous. Why would we spend money destroying all the positive momentum downtown is currently experiencing? It's bad for Louisville and Kentucky.

On the other hand, 8664's proposal to divert interstate traffic away from downtown and expand Waterfront Park seems very sensible. Reconnecting the city to the Ohio River will have incredible benefits in terms of livability, urban renewal and investment. It will also support our claims as the River City and City of Parks.

I don't believe Mayor Abramson has fully considered the 8664 proposal, but I urge you to do the right thing for the future of this fine city and the entire Commonwealth and give the 8664 Plan your full consideration. Like Louisville's Olmsted Parks, this is a 100-year decision. I believe our children and grandchildren will thank us for making the right decision.

I will be watching the news and reading the paper to stay informed on how the Bridges Project proceeds. I hope to see how you have played a positive role in the future of our city.

Sincerely,

PS I know the opposition to the East End Bridge is very powerful, but they have delayed that bridge since it was first recommended in 1969. Their arguments are now obsolete. Please do the right thing NOW for this entire community.
