CART wrote a letter in support of River Fields, but it was a contentious vote. My view is that River Road, our beloved "Scenic Byway", has become a death machine. If you go the speed limit, you will be passed on blind curves, which is akin to Russian Roulette. If you go above the speed limit, you don't have the reaction time to deal with what's around that corner. God help you if you go below the speed limit, e.g. on a bicycle. There is just no lawful and safe way to travel that "Scenic Byway", and that's a failure on the part of government. River Fields is fighting back using the means available to it.
In a limited list of options available, obstructing the speed increase is the least bad option we saw. Thus we endorsed the suit.
